| Lord Obsidian03-10-05, 05:18 PM | Okay heres all the info: The character is a 13th lvl winged human half-dragon (sorcerer 6/fighter4/eldritch knight 3 with a pesudodragon familiar. He wields a green steel +3 greatsword with shock and keen enchantments, as well as a +2 sickle with throwing and returning on it. He is a high ranking member of an adventurer's guild that has influence across the western coast of my homebrew world. Anyway, he is headed for the kingdom of Knith, a brutal northern kingdom located in and around a range of mountains, as well as a large fir and pine forest. Slavery is legal in Knith, and protected by law, and magic is also controled by law, nd none can cast spells within the walls of the cities without a pass. Now my question to you is, what would be a good adventure for this character to have in this kingdom? Any help would be appreciated. |
| TripleDee03-10-05, 06:07 PM | Become ruler of the city, depose a crooked leader maybe. |
| Lord Obsidian03-10-05, 06:18 PM | No, its not an evil kingdom, nor is its ruler evil. Killing the king would result in a war between the adventurers guild and the entire kingdom of Knith, as the king is liked by his people. |
| Lord Obsidian03-10-05, 06:33 PM | Maybe this will help, these are a few major villians he has faced. They either escaped or he let them go. I have no plans for any of them to return, so feel free to use them if they help. Iriax - giant half-dragon. He is the characters half brother and the first villian he encountered. Iriax was the leader of a bandit gang in the darkwood swamp. When the character found out Iriax was his half brother he tried converting him to good, but failed and wounded him bady (He cut off Iriax's left hand), he then allowed Iriax to escape. Xander - human fighter. He is a young noble from the city of Lorigol who owns a cursed, evil longsword that has worped his mind. He tried to raise an army of lesser demons, but obviously was stopped. He escaped through a hidden tunnle, but lost his position as a nobleman and all his property in Lorigol. Orishi - human wizard/rogue. He was once the leader of a large bandit army in the desert kingdom of Illise. He tried to take control of the kingom by assassinating the sultan, but he failed and escaped into the shifting sands. |

| Captn Blake03-10-05, 07:51 PM | What is his alignment? Maybe you posted it and I didn't catch it. Well, lets see - he's a high ranking member of the guild, so that immediately says to me "Got a lot to loose." I'd have the character teeter on the edge of loosing his rank or tarnishing his reputation and struggling to clear his name, etc. Oo, how's this: A citizen is running for a high political office (mayor?) and is well loved by the people - perhaps particularly by the adventurers guild. Your character uncovers information that he is somehow corrupt (working in conjunction with an evil guild or maybe - if he's being considered for a high military position - he's planning to open up the defenses to a rival city, etc). The character first tries to let other guildmembers in on the plot, but they shun our hero, because the candidate is so well loved. Eventually the candidate either wins OR discovers that our hero knows something -- basically somhow gets the character into a position where he must take immediate action - perhaps resulting in the injury or death of the candidate. He is then sought after by the law and by his friends for the deed and must prove his innocence without giving away his wherabouts. This will test the heck out the characters skills (information gathering, sense motive, fast talking, disguise, running shot, etc etc); there are tons of ways of testing him. Maybe he forms an ally with a townsmember who also has a reputation as a reactionary or a "nut-job" but who proves his worth. Maybe our hero can help shape the nut into a respected man and have him reveal the hero's innocence once he gains enough clout to have the public listen... Just a thought. :) -Captn Blake |
| Lord Obsidian03-10-05, 08:13 PM | No, I just did a political game with the whole Orishi trying to kill the sultan and stuff. That adventure just ended, so I was thinking something more, dungeon crawlish, since he hasn't done one of those for a while now. But I like your idea and I'm gonna save it for later use. |
| Nephandi03-10-05, 08:45 PM | The leaders of this happy little un-evil land are have a tiny problem with a small band of escaped slaves leading a revolt. The leaders are able to politicaly presure him in to accepting the job to put an end to this little blemish on their other wise perfect berg. They want for some reason for an outsider to take care of this and they would like this taken care of as quietly as possible. They want this taken care of because the revolt is growing like wild fire even Random Barron #1s slave has escaped. In addition to this the revolt is being lead by some snot nosed prince just trying to get attention from his royal father. This princes followers are not only fanatic about freedom but about following the prince. These free slaves have tasted freedom and have been wiped in to a frenzy. The leaders of this nation have found out that the Prince is hold up in some abandon mine. The mine still has a residue of some magical ore that interfears with scrying |
| Lord Obsidian03-10-05, 08:51 PM | Hm...I like it, it has promise. But there is no need to pressure the character into it. The guild is neutral and will work for anyone in need of aid, to an extent ofcourse. Oh and the character is chaotic Neutral. |
| Dunther the Great03-10-05, 08:52 PM | What's the status of his dragon parent? Maybe it has been captured by some wizard for some experimentaion or cult for a sacrifice and the PC has to go rescue the dragon. |
| Lord Obsidian03-10-05, 08:57 PM | An interesting idea, but I don't want to pull the family card too often. |
| Kayoz_Majick03-10-05, 10:06 PM | What if (and this is a huge cliche, sorry) the adventure guild that he belongs to gets wind of some legendary artifact that is in/around the city of Khand (or whatever). BUT its below the towns Temple of Goodguy. Find out that Lead Priest or #2 Priest of GoodGuy has been dabbling in Necromancy in the basements and has been tunneling to the same location as the artifact (coincidence??? heh) and has to race the clock before BadGuy gets the artifact. Or he could blow the cover of Priest GoodGuy, but have the story back fire on him, and have to find the truth from CrazyGuy in the alley babbling about walking dead and all that..... just a couple of thoughts anyways. |
