I'm trying to teach my little sisters how to play D&D. One has made a 1st-level human rogue and the other one a halfling sorceress. Now it's my problem to come up with adventures for them. What sort of challenges can a first-level rogue and sorceress face on their own? What can a first-level rogue OR sorceress face alone? (Often I can't catch the two together for any length of time.) Thanks in advance!

Make a stealthy little adventure.
Sneaking around, espionage-type thing.

Puzzles, surviving in the elements, diplomatic scenarios, espionage (as Sidious mentioned)... typical non-combat stuff. Maybe during the course of running errands for people in the big city, they meet one or two other people who would be willing to accompany them in their journeys.

You could make these new friends as complex or as simplistic as you'd like... 1st level Warriors or Adepts would suffice. Basically, anything to help fill out the "holes" your average adventuring party.

Some sample plothooks:

Delsora the Alchemist requires a few mushrooms from the side of the river. When the PCs arrive, all of the mushrooms seem to have either been picked or destroyed! This special kind is know to grow in one other area; Brandon's Mine. But it's been abandoned for twenty years...

The local sheriff is in danger of losing his position in the village as attacks on the road become more and more frequent. No one has been injured, yet, but it seems the aggression is targeted at anyone bearing the special seal of the Imperial Mercantile Society. Not only will Old Barnaby lose his job, but the hamlet may dry up from lack of business if the IMS can't be persuaded the roads are still safe...

A cruel trick played by the pixies in the Dragonscale Forest has taken its toll on the settlement of Dunfarrow. A wolf has gained sentience through the use of their magic, and what's worse, the Fey seem to have taught the beast how to Awaken the rest of its pack, as well. Can the PCs stop Darkfang from taking her revenge on the humans before Dunfarrow's logging expedition has to be shut down permanently?

I hope these helped. Good luck!

maybe they could be hired on to help a NPC party, or by a Lord or Baron to provide support for his soldiers. A rouge or sorcer just cant handle combat without some brawny helpers.

Thanks! Unfortunately, my spring break is over, and I'm not seeing little sisters again until June. :(
I'll keep these in mind until then!
