| Dungeon Mastr09-07-03, 01:54 PM | I'm starting a new campaign soon in the Silver Marches. I plan on having them start out in the city of Silverymoon, and I want them to adventure within and around the city until they reach mid level. I bought the book "Silver Marches," and I was disappointed that all the adventures take place in other places around the reigon. Any ideas for low level adventures (2nd-7th level or so) in the Gem of the North? |

Err, that was a bit off topic. The first city campaign can be a bit intimidating to run. In general I'd say go with intrigue over action. Set up a bunch of interesting NPCs that will be closely related to the PCs. Give them each a couple of goals as well as some hooks the PCs decide to follow up. For more concrete adventure ideas: Think detective story. (Real detective stories like Sherlock Holmes rather than the slugfests that modern movies about police/detectives tend to be. Slugfests inside Silverymoon are unlikely to say the least.) A friend is dead and the city guard apprehended the wrong guy for the murder. (Preferably someone the characters care about as well, so they have to solve the murder _and_ free their friend.) |

[URL=http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rt/20030507a] There you get a lot more information. More detailed and maybe some adventure ideas come to your mind while reading it. In addition to that I think especially wizards can have good roleplaying opportunities within the city walls of Silverymoon. Furthermore take them out into the wilderness - to let the ranger, barbarian or druid shine bright. There you can try the random weather tables. Let them face the cold rain and snowfall. To show them that the silvermarches could be very deadly without facing any monster. For some dwarves in your campgain you could take them to Sundabar. Or to the Hall of Mists where you could throw anything you like upon them - because everything is considered to be an illusion. In my opinion the Silver Marches are a region of Fearun where just traveling across the land with an able guide - who tells them about some exciting persons, ruins etc. - spiced up with some random encounters (needn't be monsters) - like the Rock Wyrm trying to trade with the PCs - could fill an entire evening. |

I'm more just talking about adventures I can plan in the immediate area of Silverymoon. I'm also looking for adventure ideas with a healthy blend of combat AND thinking/roleplaying. I've been playing D&D for a long while now, but I haven't actually started designing my own adventures until recently. Any advice/ideas/general help you can offer is greatly appreciated. :D |
