Advice on 1st lvl adventures [Archive] - Wizards Community

A friend of mine is going to DM for the first time. I advised him to start with an prewritten adventure.

I myself have already played forge of fury and teh sunless citadel. Are there any cool low level adventures which i can advise him. Web enhancement adventures are also an option but only WOTC stuff.

There are other sites such as RPGNow, Paizo, etc. that have adventures available in PDF format. Most of them are fairly inexpensive.

For any new DM, I highly recommend a subscription to Dungeon magazine. For less than $40 a year, you will get an average of 36 adventures per year. Even if you don't use the adventures in the magazine, they are a very useful tool for developing your own adventures. No, I have not been paid for my testimony, I really like the product.

10-03-06, 10:24 AM The way to go is "NeMoren's Vault".
This is an outstanding adventure.
It is for 1st level. Several interesting puzzles, player handouts, a decent dungeon. This is by far the best 1st level adventure I've ever read.

Other 1st level adventures that were not as good that I own:
Crucible of Freya (necromancer games)
Idylls of the Rat King (goodman games)
Legend of the Ripper (goodman games)
Sunless Citadel (WOTC)

I'd say the 2nd best is Crucible of Freya, but that would be better played at 2nd level... it is too deadly for 1st level characters.
