| Herr Masel12-02-05, 09:56 AM | One of my players has fallen to the hand of an evil cleric (or witch). She was experimenting on him with various potions and scalpels etc. and I decided that the lasting effects are that his voice became really high pitched and his left arm turned into an octopus tentacle. I gave him penalties like -2 strength, -1 dexterity -2 charisma but I don't really know how to let him counter this. Remove curse doesn't seem right as he is more the subject of scientific error than evil magic, what else could I use? I don't want him to just find the "antidote" lying around in her lab after he kills her. |
| Vileneeds of Q12-02-05, 09:59 AM | Have him find a good cleric to perform a miracle, lead to a whole new set of quests, or he could find a benevolent wizard to conive a wish out of. not a sermon, just a thought. |

| Herr Masel12-02-05, 10:12 AM | Now that I think of it I will probably give him an alchemy book from her lab (I already planned to) and let him figure the rest out, probably make him find some rare ingridients. |
| Fixxxer12-02-05, 02:50 PM | On an unrelated side note, I would probably allow him to use the Improved Grab ability while he has the tenacle. |
| PenderGrass12-02-05, 03:12 PM | On an unrelated side note, I would probably allow him to use the Improved Grab ability while he has the tenacle. Being hunted by yellow-garbed fishermen in big boots would not be out of the question either. :dragon: **** |
| revnk12-02-05, 03:47 PM | Also, you can show your true evilness through bad punnery and horrid wordplay, for instance: "I really feel for your character." or: "The innkeeper normally charges an arm and a leg, but looking at you... he'll settle for the leg." I'll be here all week, don't forget to tip your waitress, folks.... But seriously: what about something as simple as Greater Restoration? Restoration, Greater Conjuration (Healing) Level: Clr 7 Components: V, S, XP Casting Time: 10 minutes This spell functions like lesser restoration, except that it dispels all negative levels afflicting the healed creature. This effect also reverses level drains by a force or creature, restoring the creature to the highest level it had previously attained. The drained levels are restored only if the time since the creature lost the level is no more than one week per caster level. Greater restoration also dispels all magical effects penalizing the creature’s abilities, cures all temporary ability damage, and restores all points permanently drained from all ability scores. It also eliminates fatigue and exhaustion, and removes all forms of insanity, confusion, and similar mental effects. Greater restoration does not restore levels or Constitution points lost due to death. XP Cost 500 XP. Here's another thought: as a kind of band-aid, could he use Alter Self or Polymorph to change himself? I see no reason not.... In a horrific setting, make the transformation permanent, but... if he can find an arm, he might be able to find someone to cut the tentacle off and sew the arm back on as a replacement graft (magically fusing it as a graft to his body). There is a prestige class that focuses on that kind of thing in, I believe, Lords Of Madness. As to where he would get an arm... well... what is he willing to do for it? But again, that's only if you're running a pretty dark world.... |
