| StrahdVonZarovich04-27-05, 02:23 AM | Ok here's the problem, my players really like be for their Dm, but the thing is I don't like it at all, in fact I'm beginning to wonder if I ever liked it at all. On top of that they always play the same damn kind of chars. One always play Brutes-like and is always an half-or or dwarf. And he's so racist toward elves that he'd made a redneck look rather pale compared to him. The second one always Palys, or females char, and he's just damn stupid sometimes, like y'know shootin' random fireballs ON a ship while THE WHOLE TEAM IS CURRENTLY ON THE SHIP NEAR AN ISLAND, and the fact the whole crew are pirates ! He's just damn too chaotic-stupid if you ask me. The third one just have one hell of a disturbing nature, he's always playing CN chars, and as soon as he's pissef-off he don't hesitate one minute to kill all of those who dares to ****-him off or stand in his way. On top of that he never plays a char unless the char in question have at least two 16 and/or 17 ! Finaly I think I'm really running out of ideas to be a good DM...my imagination has just been drained out by CPU games or work I guess. Even my what was suppose to be my greatest campaign is on hold temporarely until I get more ideas...(see the link (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=295330&highlight=The+Chaos+Sphere)) HELP !! P.S. I have every damn 3.5 books and some 3.0 one at the exception of Serpent Kingdoms(I just HATE snakes and Yuant-Tis). |
| Siduakal04-27-05, 02:30 AM | Wow.. well you may suggest they all try something new. Suggest the combat brute try a support role or social character, suggest the Paly/Chaotic Stupid play a Half Orc or other int penalty race, teach the 3rd one repercussions (IF he wants to flip out and kill people, everyone has bigger buddies.. once he dies a few times, he'll stop it) |
| StrahdVonZarovich04-27-05, 02:38 AM | teach the 3rd one repercussions He was petrified once in another game by a basilisk IIRC, and god I never saw someone complain that much in years ! |
| Siduakal04-27-05, 02:42 AM | He's going around murdering your NPCs, right? Teach him why it's bad. A) He gets arrested B) He gets killed resisting arrest C) He gets assassinated D) He gets hunted down and slain by a brother/sister/lover/friend/father/son/mother/daughter/cousin/uncle/baby's mama of someone he kills E) The town he did it in forms a lynch mob and captures him and hangs him. He'll stop doing it. |
| StrahdVonZarovich04-27-05, 03:04 AM | Acutaly he's not THAT bad...but he killed a Rogue once just because he knew that the rogue in question was researched in Cormyr for numerous crimes, he asked the Rogue why, and the Rogue that it wasn't of his business, the went outside of the inn, duel occured, the Rogue/Sorcerer ended up beheaded.. |
| foksieLoY04-27-05, 03:14 AM | Acutaly he's not THAT bad...but he killed a Rogue once just because he knew that the rogue in question was researched in Cormyr for numerous crimes, he asked the Rogue why, and the Rogue that it wasn't of his business, the went outside of the inn, duel occured, the Rogue/Sorcerer ended up beheaded.. actualy that's not CN behaviour, its CE. so make him change it. he will soon realize that without precausion, paladins will target him quite often. maybe even that "dumb" one. :) |
| StrahdVonZarovich04-27-05, 03:18 AM | Yes I know, and that char is supposedly CG, go figures. |
| foksieLoY04-27-05, 03:25 AM | actualy, IMHO you should stop DMing. If they liked the game they will ask you to come back and then you can force them to adhere to your rules. If they don't ask you back, at least you saved yourself a lot of time, and energy and sanity. :) then try finding another group. DMing isn't at all that bad as long as you can keep your players under discipline. :D |
| StrahdVonZarovich04-27-05, 03:37 AM | Discipline is effectively a key-word in this case, yes. Though the 'brute' cahr recently made progress, he made a Cleric(a dwarven one of course), and he's near lvl-7 now, he wants to be a Mystic-Theurge...*sight*..Though thats not my campaign. |
| Kalanth04-27-05, 04:02 AM | I had a problem player that really drained me and all my creative thoughts. I kicked him out of the game and then the other players noticed how much better my games got. His prescence killed most of the sessions before that. With this group, that same fix may work but in a different sense, just leave the group. Stop DMing them completly and don't play with them any more. It sounds bad to say this, but those that don't take the game just a little serious end up ruining the experience for all, to include the DM. |
| Venom of the Yuan Ti04-27-05, 04:21 AM | He's just damn too chaotic-stupid if you ask me. Ah CS, the second most anoying alingment in the game, after LS. Seroiusly though if you don't like DMing, don't DM! If you want to carry on use one (or all) mof my alltime favourate stratagies for this senario. 1. Enforce Role-Playing. If he role plays well then give him a break every now and again. (And you cant role play well by using the 2D characters your feinds seem to use.) 2. Enforce Alignment. If they wont play to alignment (and they are not, from what you tell us) then change their alignment to meet their behaviour. See how they like a CE alignment and then being steared towards a Paladin War-Temple. 3. Introduce an NPC of your own to the party as a stableiser. |
