Now that my group has the Player's Handbook II, a new element is slowly becoming a key part of my campaign:

Affiliations

My players, while not very interested in writing a simple background (they always start the thought process, and never actually write anything down), can't WAIT to become members of organizations.

Simple trick is, there are only 2 that are "perfect" for any of my 6 PCs.

So, here's what I'm asking.

Have you created any affiliations for your campaign? If so, mind sharing what they are?

Otherwise, do you have any ideas for Affiliations the DM's here should create?

You know, it would be kinda neat for several PCs across the US, and world, for that matter, to be part of the same in-game Affiliation. Then, if someone needed an NPC from the Affiliation to come help, the NPC could be another group's PC. That would be cool.....

I have lots of affiliations in my Demon's Tower capaign setting and I'll list out a few notable ones. I am excluding minor organizations (local thieves guilds for instance) and campaign specific organizations.

Outlaws of the Shadow- This is a thieves/assassin's guild based on work in the shadows. They will carry out a variety of tasks with no morals as long as the pay is good. Contact with this guild is usually established by doing noteworthy actions that catches the guild's attention or being referenced to them by a trusted member.

Greenclaw Clan- A clan of druids and other classes based on protecting the wild at all costs. They scorn development and muder anyone who defiles the land in any way. This includes game hunters, farmers, and lumberers. They are very wild and feral and dress themselves in primal clothing. Most carry small light weapons and weild them like claws.

Redblade Smugglers- A smuggling clan with some corrupted power in authority. Most members are signified by carrying a redstone dagger.

Greenwood Clan- Much more different than the greenclaw clan, the greenwood clan is focused on the preservation and tranquility of nature. They seek to help better the lives of people with the aiding hand of natural magics. Many of the cities they live near are adapted to live in harmony with thier surroundings.

Order of the Silver Hand- An order of paladins and clerics that seek to preserve the good, help the weak, and banish all evil. Their actions against evil can sometimes be seen as rash and zealous.

I hope these example of guilds can give you help in making some for your own campaign.
