| Biggen_Gurble07-07-07, 07:17 PM | ok noob question here, even though as most of you know i'm not a noob DM. I was looking at the afflicted lycanthrope which is LA+2 now lets say you want to be a werewolf. The wolf is 2 racial hit dice. so that effectivly makes the template LA+4? I'm pretty sure thats how it always worked but it seems a little underpowered for some reason to me. I'm thinking maybe for templates the racial hit dice is factored into the LA, but that doesn't make much since. mostly because different creatures have different racial hit dice. so basically what im asking is what would the LA be for a werewolf. thanks in advance |

ECL (Equivalent Character Level) is the total of the character's class levels, racial hit dice (which means the two wolf hit dice in this case) and LA. ECL is what you use for determining the character's XP progression (and expected wealth per level). The character who has just become an afflicted werewolf is treated as four levels higher for that purpose. |
