Simply put,

I'm a fairly new DM to 3.5 and Faerun and have lots of ideas churning for some hope-to-be great campaigns.

One idea I have is to incorporate a type of air travel for a certain quest. I have got the idea from playing a famous mmorpg for the past year though it had little to do with Forgotten realms.

Is there a book available that has stats and information about airships, zepplins, or the alike? Is it something that might be referred to by some books as being as like...a rumor spread out through Lantan gnomish lore...or possibly viable through powerful magic but incredible unsafe therefor lil is known about it.

I can certainly create my own style to it complete with stats and background knowledge/information, but I was just wondering if there was some already existing info I didn't know about.

Thanks,

Eberron Campaign Setting has Airships (elemental powered wooden air-vessels)
No big bags of hot air or volatile gasses, but it's still air travel.

I really like Bastion Press' Airships (http://www.bastionpress.com/Products/airships.htm) books. It has detailed airship construction rules with costs and times and lots of engine types -- from wood burning to spell-slot powered to engines that burn dead bodies -- and airship combat rules and navagation rules, and even rules for trade. It even includes some PrC's for airship personal, although they are better suited for NPCs than players.

Now, this book is oriented to high-speed, high-power airships -- 200 mph being a perfectly reasonable speed -- but there are ways to construct slower ships too.
