| torchflame07-08-04, 08:06 AM | In our last session, I had the PCs (who were negotiating with a green dragon priest for the freedom/protection of a pregnant half dragon) attacked by several more dragons. They were sure I was gearing up for a TPK, but what I actually did was have them all think they were getting killed, and wake up over 1000 years later. The deal is that there's a ritual designed to free the soul of an imprisoned draconic goddess (long story.) The Evil being looking to do this needs an unborn child or a virgin (either of draconic bloodline) to act as the host body for the goddess. That bit's complicated and off topic, so I'll leave it at that. I have the party "blinking" between the probable future and their original time, since they are in a key moment in world development, regarding the future of the goddess, her portfolio, etc. My question is thus: Are there any products or other references which might aid me in the miniscule details of this type of approach? I know where I'm going with this whole thing, and the players are on board with it. Since the future is not carved in stone, and everything they do will make some type of impact, I want them to be able to see their progress and any changes in the world due to their actions in the "present" time. Has anyone heard of anything even remotely similar to this? Or am I treading new ground, here? I can't find very much information. |

Try the book "Chronomancer" published by Mongoose games. ($15.00) They use an equally interesting theory of time magic based on Paradox & The Continuum, the specifics of which I wont get into here. In my campaign setting I've blended the 2 and the results are working out fine. Although the use of Chornomancy should be sparce and saved for moments in the story when it's most dramaticlly appropriate. |
