Hi All! I know this might offend some of you put here I go any way. I want to know if there are any alternative hit tables that make more sense than the one Wizards of the Coast use for D&D. My dad played for a while in the seventies and he and some of his friends came up with an entirely different system thats not what im asking for. (But if theres one out there let me know:P) All I want is an alternative hit table.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

What "hit table" are you talking about?

The current "to hit" table is pretty simple. Roll a d20, add your attack bonus, if it meets or exceeds the enemy's AC, you hit. I dont know why you'd want to futz with it.

if you're talking about a critical hit table, theres no "official" one. In general, letting people target specific body parts leads to no one having eyes, hands or genitals by level 3. Level 2 if you face some sorcerer's armed with crossbows and packing True Strike. Not particularly fun.

Bastion Press has a book called "Torn Asunder" which features a crit system thats a little more fair if that's what you are looking for.

Because it makes no sense at all...Example a dagger crits on a 19-20 but a light pick only crits on a 20. A light pick is asentley(spelling) a dagger on a stick! (Im sorry if logic hurts but its the truth)

Except the way its wielded is nothing at all like how a dagger is wielded. Also it really does look nothing like a dagger. Furthermore, the "stick" gives you more torque due to the longer radius (arm + stick). Please excuse the math and logic critical hit. :P

Also a dagger crits on a 20 for double damage, and a pick crits on a 20 for quadruple damage.

Well, a dagger you can have a little more accuracy because it isn’t on a stick. It is just like how a rapier has more accuracy than a long sword, therefore your more likely to hit a critical spot on the armor. These people spend a lot of time writting this game, with a lot of stuff they seem pretty close and well researched.

Except both have threat ranges of 20. ;)
