| Wenin05-20-06, 04:23 PM | I'm wanting to build a library of ambient sounds to play during games. I'm looking for sound files that would have things like Tavern atmosphere, Wilderness, Rain, blowing wind, animal gruntings..... things of this sort. Anyone know of some good websites that have such archives? |
| allenchan05-20-06, 04:28 PM | Google is your friend. A simple "ambient sounds" search brought up tons of sites. |
| Wenin05-20-06, 04:31 PM | Yeah only about a half million. =) Anyone know of ones they've already found, not asking anyone to find one for me. |
| garith05-20-06, 05:33 PM | My buddies and I use a collection of final fantacy tunes, the alabama song from the doors(which makes a great tavern song) and various metal songs for prolonged combat such as releasing the demons from godsmack this seems to work real well hope this helps, Garith |

You can find lots of 8 bit and 16 bit stuff there. |
| ORC_Paradox05-21-06, 01:47 AM | Personally, I find ambient sounds better than music. The music can be distracting. You might also want to check out one of those "abmient" sound makers that generate electronic sounds such as ocean waves, or rainforest. |
| hmmmm05-21-06, 03:15 AM | Try looking for site that people use to make video games, I know that I have found alot by doing that (Only I never write down the adress). |
| Lord Nap05-21-06, 03:49 AM | Out of curiosity, I spent the better part of the last hour after reading this post searching for good ambient background sounds, and haven't really found anything for D&D. Most of what I found were Sounds of Nature CD's, which are okay at times, but intended to put you to sleep. I found some sound effects CD's at Amazon.com, but they are either contemporary noises (traffic, etc.) or just ridiculous. I would very much like to know if there is a database somewhere of sound files ripped from RPG games. |
| Gellion05-21-06, 04:13 AM | I would very much like to know if there is a database somewhere of sound files ripped from RPG games. There is www.midishrine.com and www.vgmusic.com. :) Those links dont work cause for some reason they have wizards.com in front of their names, just remove that part. :) |
| Salaman05-21-06, 05:21 AM | I use PC games music / ambient sounds in my RPG Games: for example NWN, oblivion, morrowind, BG1, BG2, vampire1/2, ToEE, ... |
| Wenin05-23-06, 12:07 PM | I'll have to search my PC games, but I found all those Nature sounds on the net. They're pretty good. I just need more "Tavern talk", "Horse hooves on cobble stone roads", "street noises". These are hard to find as most sound files are contempary. |
| Toastybiggins05-23-06, 01:55 PM | I'm ending my next adventure with a really cool time-based encounter (e.g. free the sacrifice before the demon is coming) and decided to play... The fiiinal countdooooooooooooown! Dadada-Daaaaaa...dadada-da-da... |
| steventirey198505-23-06, 05:29 PM | Those links dont work cause for some reason they have wizards.com in front of their names, just remove that part. :) The links contain wizards.com because it takes you to the "You are leaving Wizards.com page. However, these links shoud work: http://www.midishrine.com http://www.vgmusic.com And, after checking these, they do work. For future refenence, when inserting a link, after it asks you to type in the text to be displayed, and asks to to enter the address, leave in the http:// thats already there. (just make sure thats theirs onlt one http:// before hitting ok) |
| Ekranoplan05-23-06, 05:57 PM | http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=7866403&postcount=11 The above post has a link to all the music from Baldur's Gate II: The Shadows of Amn. It is not ambient sound, but it is perfect backround music for any campaign. The tavern music is especially pleasant. |
