Zeorth 05-07-07, 09:57 PM	I'm stuck on this one. One of my PC's wants to multiclass into a Ninja. He's currently a 5th level Ranger. The Ninja says that any armorment makes it so their skills no longer work... is this so even though the PC is ranger and has light armor prof.? I was leaning toward the Ninja, stating that he can have no armor prof. but I might be wrong. Let me know if you can help or if your totally confused! Thanks!
Matthew77 05-07-07, 10:08 PM	If a class ability specifically states that it doesn't function when the character is wearing armor, that restriction is not alleviated by armor proficiency. In the same way, a Monk that gains armor proficiency still loses their AC bonus and fast movement when they put the armor on. Check out page 122 of the PHB, the paragraph that begins "Nonproficient with Armor Worn". The only thing the proficiency feat removes is the armor check penalty on attack rolls, str and dex based ability and skill checks. It does not remove any other restrictions armor places on the character.
Salla 05-07-07, 10:08 PM	The character will still have light armor proficiency, but the ninja abilities that say that they only work unarmored won't work if he's wearing it.
Sarella Starshine 05-07-07, 10:11 PM	He *can* wear armor, but the ninja stuff that won't work with armor won't work. Armor profiency is a feat. Some classes get it as a first level freebe (like weapon prof with all weapons of a type). However, because one is proficient in wearing armor does not mean that one *can't* wear armor. So, your ranger/ninja will have the armor prof. of a ranger, but if he wears any armor at all, he will be denyed the stuff that requires no armor to use.
