| KhosatralKhel07-08-07, 01:14 AM | Well, I've always known I had an odd party. Medium characters, afew small, one large and now a second large. Heres the issue or rather question. Yak folk MMII are described as large. Its weapons are all medium damage. (WotC article concerning one and reciprocating my quandary) (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fc/20020810a) I know that large (tall) characters occupy a 10x10 square. Ogre is cited as example. But yak folk are consistently described as 5x5 space and the weapons in the examples deal damage appropriate to medium. What is the deal? |

Third edition rules didn't use the same weapon sizing that 3.5 does. They should use Large weapons. |
| KhosatralKhel07-08-07, 01:32 AM | So the space would remain the same but the weapons would be large? |
| Archangel_James07-08-07, 02:06 AM | No. Their space should be 10 feet as well. That was another thing that 3.0 did. Of course, you're the DM, so if you would rather squeeze a Yakman into a 5-foot square, by all means do so. Nobody said that everybody has to follow all the rules all the time. For instance, in my game, yak folk are usually good, not evil. Why? Because the yak in the picture appears to be smiling. |
| pres_man07-08-07, 07:25 AM | Right, this is a conversion issue. MMII was written using the 3rd edition rules (mostly) and has not been update (and at this point better not be since I just gave up and purchased it 2 weeks ago). I just ran an encounter with the death...bringers? I had to increase their space (10' square) and change their weapons (medium heavy flails to large flails). You've recognized the issues, just change them so they are more inline with the 3.5 edition rules. Good Luck. |
| deduke07-09-07, 09:34 AM | As mentioned above the MM2 is still a 3.0 book. Wizards however released a 3.5 update booklet for the MM2, it can be found here (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/DnD35_Monster_Manual_2.zip) |
