| Spraktes12-05-06, 10:49 PM | I am running an undead campaign, and one of my PC's wants to be a Morhg? Barbarian. How do I apply con when con doesnt apply to undead? My idea is that I do a number of rounds, equal to his HD. does that make sense? lemme know guys. I cant find this anywhere, I have looked. |
| IdleAltruism12-05-06, 10:50 PM | It would probably be 3+cha for rage(undead concentration goes by cha instead of con). |
| RainerNader12-06-06, 03:23 AM | So he rages and gets... more charismatic? Awesome. |

One of the drawbacks of being dead is that you don't have a Constitution to be modified, so his rage will only ever last 3 rounds. One of the benefits is that undead cannot fatigue, so at the end of the rage, he should not feel any of the penalties normally associated with a barbarian's rage. Sounds like a decent trade off to me. He still gets his bonus to Strength and to Will. By the way, what sort of level adjustment are you applying to mohrgs? A mohrg has 14 HD and I'd assume a LA of no less than 6, based on his +10 Strength modifier, +8 Dexterity modifier, Constitution nonability, paralyzing tongue and ability to create an unlimited number of zombies. He's already at an ECL of 20 without adding class levels. Soem suggested modifications: Creating zombies costs the mohrg XP, as if it were Crafting a magic item. Also, require the mohrg to spend a feat on Craft zombie. I would also limit the number of zombies under the mohrg's control to double his ECL. |
| Kitaki12-06-06, 12:26 PM | Libris Mortis has just about all the rules for playing an Undead you could want, including progression of undead. And to address your question, he would not get any boost to his Con from raging, due to his lack of a Con score. As for the duration of the rage, i'm gonna go with Wrecan, always 3 rounds. |
| Thiez12-06-06, 01:38 PM | But since he doesn't get fatigued, he'd be able to start a new rage once the old one is over. :) |
| Myrddin Wyllt12-06-06, 01:51 PM | So he rages and gets... more charismatic? Awesome. No, his visage becomes more compelling. Great bonuses to Intimidate, for example. Two possible solutions I would offer in lieu of what's already been said (or in addition to, where applicable): Don't allow him to play a barbarian, explaining to him that too much mucking about in the class abilities has to be done to accommodate him. Let him play the barbarian, but gain no benefit from increasing Con, since he would not be fatigued afterwards, either. His rages would last the class ability minimum, without any feats to extend them. |
| Nephlite12-06-06, 01:53 PM | But since he doesn't get fatigued, he'd be able to start a new rage once the old one is over. :) Rage is 1/battle. Fatigued lasts till end of encounter. So by time you can rage again, your fatigue is gone. |
| Thiez12-06-06, 02:02 PM | I thought you couldn't rage more than once per fight because you couldn't rage while you were fatigued, and the rage-fatigue lasted one encounter (awful rule, better to rule it lasts until you rest for one round or something like that). Hmmn, now I look at the rules and it seems indeed to be a 'hard-coded' 1/encounter limit. I don't like it, encounters can last 1 to 20 rounds, and you can actually have multiple short encounters in the same time you spend doing a single long encounter. Whatever. On the undead barbarian thing: He doesn't get fatigued, the rage lasts 3 rounds, can be used once per encounter, and the barbarian is not fatigued afterwards. If someone says not being fatigued afterwards is unbalanced or anything, remember that the barbarian also doesn't get a constitution bonus while raging, and I think that compensates. |
