Does anyone know why the desert Anaroch and the great glacier (on Toril)
is expanding or if it still is?
I remember seeing it once, but I can't find it.

Well, Anauroauroch (I really can't spell it without the book) is a desert created by the fall of the Netheril Empire, it is expanding as a desert normally would, but is also being influenced by the Shades from the Floating/Flying City of Shade (iirc, descendants of the Netherese, sold their souls to not explode).

As for the glacier, the FRCS gives no specifics, it leaves it wide open for DMs to explain why the glacier happens to be moving, and not melting, despite the fact that its getting closer to the FR equivalent of the equatorial line. Based on my FR experience, I'd say Auril was to blame.

Thats about all I know.

Actually, I'm pretty sure (but could be wrong) that the desert is really expanding because of an old, masterless golem sweeping out the remains of the master's tower. Once the tower walls fell apart, the deliniation of "tower" became meaningless, and it just became a matter of "sweeping out dust".

I remember this from somewhere, but it may have even been my own uneducated explanation when my own players asked me the same 10 years ago.

It happens because Zarzapul wishes it to happen, and no other reason.

That is all.
