| Kilsek of Sheverash09-03-04, 01:41 PM | Has anyone ran this free adventure download "Base of Operations" by Ed Stark off the D&D main site? How was it? I read it, lots to like :) Has anyone adapted it to somewhere in the Forgotten Realms? How about specifically in the Unapproachable East (I'm about to run a campaign there!)? Got suggestions for me where to place it in the UE? I really like the idea of giving the PCs a place early in the campaign where if they clean it out, they have the option of making it their first group stronghold or base of operations. It promotes a team identity and spirit within the party, becomes a meeting place and safe haven for the party and their closest friends, and creates the possibility of "PCs on the defensive" adventure hooks later on when someone or something attacks THEIR "lair" for a change. Thanks :) |

Got suggestions for me where to place it in the UE? Wow, I actually did the exact same thing. In mine, I made it a border fort between the great dale and thesk, near the ashanath(sp?). I changed the town in the module to Kront in FR. I also used the Blood One template from Unapproachable East with the example orcs so they were bred by Thay. I took away a few orcs so the cr would be about the same, and I got rid of the necromancer totally, instead making it a red wizard and inside the mines were some of the alchemical blood pits that make the blooded ones. it made a cool encounter because I had them fighting between them, and had to make balance checks etc to not fall in. :D |
