"Core" in FR [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm gearing up for an FR campaign, but having had a lot of stuff go badly in past campaigns, I'd like to try and keep this one as "core" as possible, but I figure that there's no reason running FR if I don't actually make use of FR stuff. To that end then, I'm wondering what FR stuff I should use in a "core" FR game. I know that while regional feats can be cool, regional bonus equipment is bascially stupid, as there's no balance whatsoever to that stuff, and in keeping it "core" I want the standard by the book character creation. It's a tough line to draw on what's "core" and what's not.

Any suggestions?

If you don't like the bonus equipment, then don't allow it. I don't know why it should offset balance, but it's your game.

I'd allow the Campaign Setting (duh), the Players Guide, Magic of Faerun and Races of Faerun. That's the minimum. Everything else is optional.
