One of my pc's want to run through a wall of flame spell from a level 8th caster. Will he continue to take damage as he gets cloer and closer to the flame? can he even run through it?

No, he only takes the damage from being close to the wall on the turn of the person who cast the spell. And yes, he can run through it, but he will take 2d6 points of fire damage +1 point of fire damage per caster level (maximum +20) in the process. Don't forget that wall of fire only radiates one direction, once on the other side, you're safe from that particular wall.

next question, how well can a person see through it? would a flame wall lower a search check?

Wall of fire is described as opaque- it completely blocks line of sight. Sort of like trying to stare through a blowtorch. A really big, wall-shaped blowtorch. :D

That's odd, cos i see it more as trying to look through the flame of a blowtorch:D :P

You rang?

Well the metallurgy of a blowtorch is generally a form of mild steel (1045 or similar) for the tank, often double walled, probably no more than 16 ga. The blower portion could be cast iron or steel, depending on age and fuel used.

I am glad I could be of help.
