One is a weapon ability I'm adapting from a bow I read about in the Arms and Equipment guide. I'm calling it "spell empowering." Essentially, a spell caster can give up a spell slot or prepared spell and channel it as damaging energy in the weapon's next strike. Each level of the spell or slot is one point of damage, so if a sorcerer channels a 4th level slot into his next shot with his +1 long bow of spell empowering, it would deal 1d8 +5 points of damage (4 for the spell, 1 for the +1). What would an ability like this "cost?" I'm not sure if it should be a +1 equivalent, +2, or higher. What are your thoughts? The second weapon ability I'm thinking of is similar to the Spellsword PrC ability of spell channeling. The wielder of a spell channeling weapon can cast a spell through his or her weapon. If a missile weapon, this essentially makes touch spells into ranged spells. I haven't playtested this, so I have no idea if it would be overbalanced, or what an equivalent value (+1, +2, etc) would be. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks! |
