| BrokenClock06-10-06, 10:08 AM | The mods have taken a persons post and STICKIED it to the top of the forum. This is so that everyone sees it when they log on. |
| DrMorganes06-10-06, 10:45 AM | To further explain: In normal forum operation, a new topic is placed at the top of the page. This forces all older topics one space down the page. Adding a post to a topic moves that topic to the top of the list. As such, active discussions remain at or near the top of the topic listing and old or inactive discussions are moved down. This makes it easier to prune old topics from the server, increasing performace of the boards. Sticky topics are an exception to this. They are "stuck" to the top of the forum, regardless of age or activity, until un-stuck. This is done to ensure a) important announcements are easily found by all visitors and b) to prevent useful topics (like "Useful DM Links") from dropping off into nothingness. |
