Alright here's the deal...

I've got this one player who has been wanting to DM again (after his first homebrew campaign BOMB back in May) and says he is going to go about and create a totally new world. Although I should have no problem with this, I DO.

He asked to borrow my PHB, DMG, and FR cam. books to see how to fully make a new world. He said he needs months to do it (also ridiculus) and he is going to redisign the PHB classes and some rules to fit his campaign. When he told me this I felt angry since the first time he took a shot at homebrew campaign, he SUCKED BIG TIME AND SCREWED UP EVERYTHING. he didnt know the rules (after all he had an NPC fighter who could make magic weapons at 4th level :embarrass ) and he kept telling us everything.

player 1: I wonder who that guy in black is?
Re-Re DM: you'll see in a minute... He is very important
Me: :embarrass

He railroaded most of the session.
And finally he cant describe worth a ****

So, now he is going all out to make this big homebrew campaign world when I pretty much know it will suck if I dont help him drastically.

I've asked him to use my FR campaign setting but OH NOOO, we must try to make a world at such a novice level.

I want to pass off my DnD campaign to my upcoming Star Wars one, but I cant pass off the setting like I'd planned to. He is VERY stubborn and will not allow me to get it through his thick skull he should start off easy and work his way up to a campaign.

What can I do?

You could refuse him your books or refuse to play his setting both might insult him.

Or you could offer to help him with his setting by helping him make it and thus not play in it. But that takes much time.

Or you could soak up his second attempt and maybe he will pull it out. I wasn't good my first time DMin, how was i to know that the Pcs would charge 13 death knights?

Yeah but I already gave him the go ahead to do it... :( I really just want to play sooner and not play in a ****-poor campaign run by a DM with a Wisdom score of 7. I'd hate to see him spend all this time to create his world and then me and the other players beating the crap out of him when it bombs again...

anymore suggestions?

Are any of the other players in your group willing to step up to the plate? If they are, get one of them to work up a campaign and run it during the 'months' the first guy says he needs. By the time he has something ready the group will be deeply involved in the other campaign and not willing to drop it to play in his game, especially if the other players agree with your assessment of the guy - problem solved.

If, on the other hand, none of them are willing to run something you have three choices: play in his game however bad it may be, get your gaming fix somewhere else (i.e. find another group), or don't play other than DMing your Starwars game. Maybe if you point out to some of the other players that they are in the same boat it'll make them more interested in DMing.

Yeah, don't play.

Your attitude towards him is obviously hostile, to say the least. With such blinders on, whether they are justified or not, you will likely compain incessantly about it if you do play.

The boards don't need another thread about how much you hate this guy's DMing skills (or lack-thereof).

So, please do us all a favor and don't play.

Neither of these things is ridiculous. Giving him your books without telling him straight-out how his previous effort sucked and what he should do to improve it is ridiculous.
