| Inyotef07-05-05, 11:34 PM | Hi..if a character enters a permanent antimagic field, do they become aware immediately that some of their magical items are not functioning properly...such as a cloak of protection or magical weapon? Or do they discover this information when they try to use their magical items? |
| shadowflamedancer07-05-05, 11:38 PM | If any of their items are obviously of a magical nature & they show it (aka: glowing swords, circlets that give off permenant light) then they would notice. If they don't have anyway of knowing whether their items are functioning properly or not (short of useing them), then they wouldn't know (unless they PCs used their items). As a question, if a PC wielding a wand of fireballs walks into an Anti-Magic Field, and then tries to use the wand, does (A) the wand lose a charge and emit no fireball, or (B) does the wand not lose a charge and not emit a fireball? I like spells in italics. hehe. |

The answer is B. For all intents and purposes, the wand is an ornately decorated stick while in an antimagic field. Inyotef, I agree that unless there are noticable effects involved, the party probably won't immediately notice that they have walked into an antimagic field. |
