Okay, I'm on the verge of starting a game with 8 of my friends and I'm just looking for some DM's out there (since so far most my games have been a bust) to give me some ideas as to what you think this particular group might enjoy. So regardless of their actual personalities what do you think their character might be able to sink their teeth into so to speak.

The group consists of:
--Pixie(barbarian)
--Pixie(witch; as in the variant sorcerer in the DMG)
--Half-elf/half-silver dragon(diviner)
--Wood elf(ranger)
--Half-orc/Half-ogre, winged(cleric)
--Elf(fighter/ghostwalker)
--elf, Vampire(has no class levels yet)
--*race undecided*(cleric; more specifically the evangalist from Dragon Mag)

Couldn't really say, based on characters alone. Although that's quite a large and diverse group, I must say. Could be a challenge.

Why not ask them? "Hey guys, I've got either a city-based campaign or a planescape deal I can run; why not vote amongst yourselves?"

Takes a lot of guts to run a game for pixies, half-dragons, vampires, and winged folks. Good luck.

Night secessions for the Vampire..

Don't know'em so I can't recommend anything.

Are they roleplayers?
Are they hack and Slashers?
Are they Powergamers?

Well, if you've got someone playing a Pixie Barbarian, you probably can't expect that person to take it *too* seriously. I mean, that's just goofy. :)

Given this diverse a group, I'd probably go with something moderately simple to start with just to see how it turns out; something moderately foolproof (bandit raids, that sort of thing), and see how good/bad things go.

Well, if you've got someone playing a Pixie Barbarian, you probably can't expect that person to take it *too* seriously. I mean, that's just goofy. Is that supposed to be some slur on the fine institution that is the pixie beserker? I'm very disappointed in you, Salla. <glare>

Okay, racial stereotypes aside, as a possible starting point for an adventure, I'd note that you could probably divide the party as it currently is into three core groups - the pixies, the elves (including the half-dragon) and the clerics. In your position, and on the basis of those groupings (which may not be appropriate, depending on what your players come up with for character background), I'd create a plot that saw each group ordered by an appropriate higher authority to work together to achieve some goal. That way, you have a means of unifying this reasonably diverse group, and once the task is completed you can just take it from there and move on to other things with a (hopefully) harmonious party.

So, along those lines, here's a fairly simple dungeon crawl idea that you could possibly expand into something more if so desired: Several thousand years ago or so, an elven warrior-seer succeeded in banishing a great evil force (I don't know, a cabal of powerful shadow demons or something) from the material plane. After the elven champion was laid to rest, the elven council and the church of his (or her) god (ideally this should be a god not typically worshipped by elves, so as to establish the indepence of the church hierarchy) each took one of the keys required to open the tomb; to further protect the sanctity of his resting place, the hero's pixie allies placed a potent magical ward over the site. Signs now indicate that the evil force is returning to the mortal world, and the elves and the church have therefore decided to send a party to seek guidance from the spirit of the seer. The PCs have therefore been ordered to take the keys of their respective organisations (or knowledge of the ritual for dispelling the ward, in the case of the pixies), travel to the tomb's location out in the wilderness and and entreat the dead hero for aid (such as information on where he might have left his cool demon-killing sword or something  )

Anyhoo...
