Any online clients that is just chat and dice? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-04-07, 03:12 AM I want something that is just chat and dice. Can whisper.. and do dice rolls easiy.

Something simple , also id like to run my own server , so people can join . I dont want to have to rely on a persistant server or whatever.

You pretty much described the program Fantasy Grounds with your description. You might want to check out the digital D&D forums as well as FG's website (www.fantasygrounds.com).

There's two programs, one is the DM or full version and the other is the light version for the players. It has the chat and whisper functions as well as emotes and all sorts of other fun things. You can put your own maps and tokens in and the program itself is highly customizable as long as you're willing to learn a little html and XML.

The only downside for a lot of people is you have to pay for the program...think the full is $30 and the lite is around $16...but in all honesty, in the last year I've used the program, I can't do much complaining since I've been able to continue to game with my group from the US after I moved to Europe.

Check out map tool, its free and has many of the features of the premium programs and it has whisper/dice roller + map grid. With token tool you can make customized tokens as well. I've used them for a side campaign over the last year and a half and had no complaints so far.
