You give your pcs a very simple adventure hook. It's in a game that has been going really well--pcs interested, having lots of fun, excited, drama, etc. And then they completly ignore wise advice from npcs, assume the hook is some kind of trick, and almost deliberately plan to shoot themselves in the foot. Has anyone had this happen? It's about to happen tonight.

No plan survives contact with the players. It happens to me a fair bit. Although I find my players quite predictable individually, the group dynamic is much less straightforward.

Player Chaos...its a wonderful thing.

Its just something that you have to get used to. Basically just go where they want to and let them deal with the consequences of their inaction in the situations they ignore. Remember that the world around them doesn't stop simply because the PC's aren't there.
