Im running this as a full campaign with a total of 6 people. The problem I am running into is accurately mapping this out ( we have a battle mat and minis, but it takes a long time ) and keeping the game moving at an acceptable pace.

Also, because the PCs have no idea what this dungeon actually is, its difficult to get them interested in the story behind it, as the story is introduced rather slowly.

Does anyone have experience running this dungeon?

yeah, dont.....

to run it as its designed is next to impossible. i use it merely for inspiring smaller dungeons (taking pieces out of it to fit into my own campaign)

Im beginning to think that, but I really wanted to give it a try as it was designed. Perhaps I will have a celestial contact the pcs, teleport them out, and tell them he may need their help in the future...

Search for the product on Amazon.Com and read the buyers' reviews of it.

also, it may not be necessary to write down every room or what ever, my DM typically only plots it out if a battle or some other turn by turn life or death problem, otherwise he just describes the room and the size, location of stuff etc... Good luck running it! (meant positively),

Okay, so he's in a good mood because he mauled a group of specters with his awesome power in that dungeon.

I'm currently a player in a group of 6 just like you in World Largest Dungeons. We map everything in the dungeons and i can say it's a tedious job to do so. (i'm the "mapper")

However, if i were you, i would just print the map and give it to the players. (make them find it at the beggining of every section). If you can modify the map to remove secret doors, it's even better. But going into this dungeons "blindly" is not a good idea and let the players map everything can be boring for those who are waiting after the mapper.

As for the story behing all that... it's so long between 2 story events that it's almost impossible for the players to be interested into the history of the dungeon.

There's bound to be some useful tips at the official site of the WLD (http://www.worldslargestdungeon.com/).

The "Other Parties" looks to be the most promising portion, though the downloadable maps will no doubt be useful, too.

We mostly acquired copies of the area maps from major NPCs, after we'd been exploring an area a bit. That allowed for some wandering without going in completely blind or having to map everything ourselves.
