| Passivearmada12-25-07, 07:04 PM | Hey, I have a problem- I really don't know what all my players like in a game. I was wondering if there's a form the ycan fill out that I can look at to see what kind of players they are are and adjust my campaigns accordingly. If not, I can just write one up myslef, or.... dare I say it... ask them about it! Just kidding. I just think a little test kind of thing would be more fun or resourceful. Thank you, and happy holidays :D |
| r3gulark12-25-07, 07:43 PM | Just look it up on Google. I'm sure there are plenty. Heck, I took one with about 200 questions and I found it on google. |
| hwat12-26-07, 02:05 AM | Keep it simple. Ask each one of them, do you like combat encounters?, do you like skill encounters ?, do you like roll playing ?. This way you can understand what they want out of the answers you get. Instead of finding out what a player that loves "east European, horror style of play" means. |
| Passivearmada12-26-07, 10:44 AM | Okay. And I'm not lloking for a "What character are you" test, but a "What kind of player are you" test. Thanks :) |
| hitorijun12-26-07, 01:11 PM | My personal fav is http://easydamus.com/character.html but this one is quite lenghthy (126 questions). it gives you everything. Level, Stats, Alignment, and Class. It is only done on the core rules and you can always though out the level and/or stats and use the rest. |
| VulcanStormwrath12-26-07, 02:18 PM | My personal fav is http://easydamus.com/character.html but this one is quite lenghthy (126 questions). it gives you everything. Level, Stats, Alignment, and Class. It is only done on the core rules and you can always though out the level and/or stats and use the rest. I just took that and ended up with : True Neutral Human Druid/Sorcerer (3rd/2nd Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 18 Dexterity- 17 Constitution- 18 Intelligence- 18 Wisdom- 19 Charisma- 19 Alignment: True Neutral- A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction. Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like. Primary Class: Druids- Druids gain power not by ruling nature but by being at one with it. They hate the unnatural, including aberrations or undead, and destroy them where possible. Druids receive divine spells from nature, not the gods, and can gain an array of powers as they gain experience, including the ability to take the shapes of animals. The weapons and armor of a druid are restricted by their traditional oaths, not simply training. A druid's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that they can cast. Secondary Class: Sorcerers- Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast. |
| hitorijun12-26-07, 03:01 PM | I just took that and ended up with : True Neutral Human Druid/Sorcerer (3rd/2nd Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 18 Dexterity- 17 Constitution- 18 Intelligence- 18 Wisdom- 19 Charisma- 19 And do you find these stats, alignment and class accurate? |
| VulcanStormwrath12-26-07, 03:23 PM | And do you find these stats, alignment and class accurate? The stats kind of. The alignment most of these have me as Neutral Good with a strong darkside so I guess on a bad day I'm pretty balanced. The Druid/Sorceror thing is intersting since I'm a Yoga Teacher/Martial Artist/ Energy Healer/Masseuse. I'm pretty sure alot of the things I door am into could be quantified as Sorcery and being a vegetarian and very much an outdoors/ feel the energy of the world type, Druid makes sense too. |
| Cold Napalm12-26-07, 03:31 PM | Neutral Good Human Wizard (5th Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 17 Dexterity- 18 Constitution- 18 Intelligence- 18 Wisdom- 10 Charisma- 13 That's what I got... I found the class and race pretty accurate but just about every alignment test I have ever taken has pegged me as CN or CE or CG(I average this out to CN personally)...The stats also seem high since going by what the PHB says, along with just a stats quiz which had IQ questions for the int part my stats were str 15 dex 16 con 15 int 16 wis 10 cha 13. But at least the general trend is right. |
| bloodtalon12-26-07, 04:27 PM | i took that test and i do not agree with it Chaotic Evil Human Ranger (5th Level) Ability Scores: Strength-13 Dexterity-13 Constitution-15 Intelligence-16 Wisdom-13 Charisma-13 Alignment: Chaotic Evil A chaotic evil character does whatever his greed, hatred, and lust for destruction drive him to do. He is hot-tempered, vicious, arbitrarily violent, and unpredictable. If he is simply out for whatever he can get, he is ruthless and brutal. If he is committed to the spread of evil and chaos, he is even worse. Thankfully, his plans are haphazard, and any groups he joins or forms are poorly organized. Typically, chaotic evil people can be made to work together only by force, and their leader lasts only as long as he can thwart attempts to topple or assassinate him. Chaotic evil is sometimes called demonic because demons are the epitome of chaotic evil. Chaotic evil is the best alignment you can be because combines self-interest and pure freedom. However, chaotic evil can be a dangerous alignment because it represents the destruction not only of beauty and life but also of the order on which beauty and life depend. Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like. Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast. | Cuindless12-26-07, 07:12 PM | Stats seem a little high, but pretty much everything else is right. Lawful Good Human Wizard (6th Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 15 Dexterity- 14 Constitution- 17 Intelligence- 19 Wisdom- 15 Charisma- 15 Alignment: Lawful Good- A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest. Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like. Class: Wizards- Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells. |
| darkneolink12-26-07, 09:01 PM | Follow the wisdom of Oakspar So, here are the questions I ask (and you might think of others): All of the questions are ranged on a scale 1) Role Playing --- Mix --- Roll Playing (GF picked Role Playing, likely because it was the least rule intensive, making it the easiest to jump into cold) 2) High --- Mid --- Low Fantasy (Think high as Narnia, where animals talk and everything is exotic, mid more like classic D&D, and low being more like Robin Hood or King Autur) She picked Mid 3) High --- Mid --- Low Magic (She picked Mid) 4) High --- Mid --- Low Power (She picked High) 5) Dark --- Average --- Light Tone and Mood (She picked Light, so no "Night of the Living Dead" or Serial Killers in the Town, instead, more "rescue the child from the Ogres, who have not killed or molested it") 6) G --- PG --- R Rated descriptions and content (She picked PG13) |
| Passivearmada12-27-07, 10:42 AM | Follow the wisdom of Oakspar That is what I was looking for, but I couldn't remember where I saw it! Thanks, man. I am a: True Neutral Human Bard (5th Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 12 Dexterity- 16 Constitution- 12 Intelligence- 17 Wisdom- 16 Charisma- 16 And I think tat's pretty honest. Funny how we all end up as humans :D |
| Mulkr12-27-07, 03:39 PM | Neutral Good Elf Ranger (2nd Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 12 Dexterity- 18 Constitution- 13 Intelligence- 16 Wisdom- 19 Charisma- 15 Alignment: Neutral Good- A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable. Race: Elves are known for their poetry, song, and magical arts, but when danger threatens they show great skill with weapons and strategy. Elves can live to be over 700 years old and, by human standards, are slow to make friends and enemies, and even slower to forget them. Elves are slim and stand 4.5 to 5.5 feet tall. They have no facial or body hair, prefer comfortable clothes, and possess unearthly grace. Many others races find them hauntingly beautiful. Class: Rangers- Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. | UltimateReality12-27-07, 09:34 PM | If you're a fan of Robin Laws' categorization of gamers, try this quiz (http://quizfarm.com/quiz_repository/Fashion/9166/) and this explanatory link (http://www.darkshire.net/jhkim/rpg/theory/models/robinslaws.html). (The book mentioned in the link is quite entertaining and, IMO, useful when you've got a new group or are new to DMing.) ETA: one of the most interesting things I did with my group was reword the material in the second link above from a first person point of view, print it out, and ask my players to determine what labels they felt best fit themselves, the other players, and me. (I still have the Word file if you'd like it -- PM with email address if interested.) |

| Barloch12-30-07, 03:34 AM | I just find it interesting so many of us have such amazing stats. Yeah seems like this test is adding about 3-5 to any given stat, I think the writers forgot that 10 is average. On a side note, I got lawful nuetral human(halfing, same score at 14 each) monk2/ranger1 Str/dex/con:14 (all the same) Int:16 Wis:15 Cha:14 I scored one under lawful good, which I say fits me beter than lawful nuetral, infact I'd go so far as to say I'm more in the nuetral good area than either, but they're all fairly accurate. On an interesting side note, I scored a 0 for evil on the good/evil axis, I'm a paragon of goodness.:P Or at least, not badness. |
| fishblade03-16-08, 12:13 PM | WoW i like that test, came out with almost exactly first character i ever played, it says i am a Chaotic Neutral Half-Orc Barbarian (3rd Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 20 Dexterity- 15 Constitution- 16 Intelligence- 10 Wisdom- 15 Charisma- 12 :D |

I was as honest as I could be, although I think I subconsciously lied a bit about the stats. I'm happy that for the first time, I'm not labeled as a LG dwarf paladin. |
| Winternova03-16-08, 02:18 PM | I ended up a fourth level human paladin; Str 14 Dex 13 Con 14 Int 14 Wis 15 Cha 12. I'm seriously broken. The test strikes me as a bit... generous. |

Dwarves are slow to jest and suspicious of strangers, but they are generous to those who earn their trust. They stand just 4 to 4.5 feet tall, but are broad and compactly built, almost as wide as they are tall. Dwarven men value their beards highly. <br><br><u>Primary Class:</u><br><b>Paladins</b> take their adventures seriously, and even a mundane mission is, in the heart of the paladin, a personal test an opportunity to demonstrate bravery, to learn tactics, and to find ways to do good. Divine power protects these warriors of virtue, warding off harm, protecting from disease, healing, and guarding against fear. The paladin can also direct this power to help others, healing wounds or curing diseases, and also use it to destroy evil. Experienced paladins can smite evil foes and turn away undead. A paladin's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that they can cast. Many of the paladin's special abilities also benefit from a high Charisma score. <br><br><u>Secondary Class:</u><br><b>Clerics</b> act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast. <br><br>Find out <a href='http://www.easydamus.com/character.html' target='mt'>What Kind of Dungeons and Dragons Character Would You Be?</a>, courtesy of Easydamus <a href='mailto:zybstrski@excite.com'>(e-mail)</a><br><br> But a Dwarf? |
