How would you handle the AoO in a large scale battle. I mean, If a player is surrounded by 4 atackers, who are surrounded by 4 friendly NPCs, who are surrounded by 4 atackers, who...
How would an action in the chaos of war that usually provokes an AoO be best judged? I mean, drinking a potion in a battle is definitly one, but moving in&out of a threatening area is a little too much. I would rule that that action if you are not surrounded by 3 you could get out or walk a distance while fighting without a AoO.
Am I misreading or forgeting a rule, or is it possible to think that in battle someone could pass (without tumble) thought some, but not all, enemies without getting AoO while moving inside the battlefield?

AoO are the option of the person presented with them. If we look at the movie Braveheart or Gladiator, we have scenes where the armies charge into each other. The armies don't come to a dead stop in front of each other (except the scene with the Irish in Braveheart) to prevent AoO, but rather rush headlong into each other.

Just have it so that most people are focused on someone else and ignore their option to make an AoO.
