| Onehouse11-11-03, 04:04 AM | Hi all, Our group have adventured for a long time now and we are thinking about getting a resident. I got chosen to GM the adventure where we will aquire our resident. The problems I now face is that our group has a lot of different characters and most of them wants to live in different places. Even if they can agree to something be it a castle or a cave system or a groove in the woods I still have to be able to cover all those different scenarios. How can I possibly do that? Im thinking that I make a story and a plot and no matter what they choose I will integrate that into the adventure. But I am not sure that will be enough. What if they give up on one resident since it seems to hard and goes for another one. Also anyone got any tips on what hooks and stories or maybe whole adventures might be good for an adventure like this? Im thinking that if they want a cave system they will have to battle a big monster for it. Also they will have to set up traps and make peace with surrounding dwarwfs etc. If they want a castle they better be rich or make some great honorary thing for a king. If they want a house in a city they can simply buy it but then other powerfull people in the city might not want the competition that comes with them living in the same city. What do you all think? | Bait the Bard11-11-03, 04:24 AM | Well its residence for a start its residence and not resident.:teach: If you thought up some really mad setting (astral-going ship, an evil liches tower, etc..), that your players would think was really cool, you could easily work it into the current adventure or just drop a new hook in. After defeating the inhabitants of the place, they would probaly want to settle there, hey presto problem solved! However, as you said, they all want different places, so you could just make only a few places avaliable within their area, the rest being infested by :behold:ers. Alternativly, you could make about 3 or 4 (or even 5!) different scenarioes; one for a city or castle, on for open wilderness, etc.. and just adapt them as the party reveal their plans. Hope this helps - the annoying bard |
