| Zanedor01-04-08, 06:07 AM | One of the major regions of my campaign is based considerably on Ancient Arabia with a bit of Ancient Egypt in some areas; the only major problem I've come across so far is finding some appropriate music for this setting. Does anyone know of some music that would fit this setting and/or where I can find some? |

| Another_Poet01-04-08, 09:42 AM | Try the artist Rabih Abou Khalil. He does (wait for it...) Arabian jazz! It is very beautiful and has a strong Middle Eastern feel to it. It's a nice change of pace if you're going to be spending hours with Arabian music in the background. ap |

Also, depending on how your setting unfolds, you might also consider African tribal music. That stuff is kinda fun. good luck |
| Ye' Cind01-04-08, 12:06 PM | don't confuse Persian with Arabian. The two cultures are immensely different. In fact, Persians harbor a deep-rooted hatred for Arabs, which began sinse the Sassanid Dynasty of the 7th Century. (As a 4th year theology student, I should know ;) ) |
| 1 ton ghost01-04-08, 03:08 PM | -Dead Can Dance easilly. a great deal of their fare is Middle Eastern world music, very prolific, very easy to find. they'd even play the occaisional tune of their's at club, and this is during Goth/Industrial night if you can believe it. -Lisa Gerrard's solo stuff (founding member above) is quite good too. she did a fair amount of the Gladiator OST for what it's worth -Trial of the Bow, admittedly harder to find, is very arabian. |
| Urithair01-04-08, 05:26 PM | I also recommend the Prince of Persia soundtrack. |
| CryoSilver01-04-08, 06:06 PM | Orphaned Land is a Death/Doom metal band from Israel; look em up. |
| Cifer01-04-08, 09:40 PM | Another one for Prince of Persia here, but watch out what you get - Sands of Time is mostly quiet ambience music that sounds very... oriental, Warrior Within is almost purely rock with only hints of the persian feeling of its predecessor (it's absolutely perfect for combat scenes though) and Two Thrones is a mix of both. don't confuse Persian with Arabian. The two cultures are immensely different. In fact, Persians harbor a deep-rooted hatred for Arabs, which began sinse the Sassanid Dynasty of the 7th Century. (As a 4th year theology student, I should know ) While I normally appreciate comments enlightening about cultural diversity, in this case I believe there will be neither arabs nor persians at the table so anything "oriental" will suffice. |
| FK01-05-08, 12:12 AM | I happened to be listening to this as I saw the topic, so I recommend The Tea Party, mainly their Edges of Twilight album. 90s metal with a distinct world-music flavour. Similar to Tool's Undertow album only more Arabic (perhaps like Zeppelin's "Kashmir") . Granted if you're looking for something more ambient (or traditional) and less rock then this wont be for you. The music nerd in me made me register just to post this. |
