Gargoyle hiding in the middle of a bunch of statues... can the mage pick it out of a lineup. second question.. do magical beings emit magical aura.. ie. Dryads, sirens, fey as a whole..? Thoughts? |
| wonlee7611-15-07, 12:27 PM | First keep in mind Arcane Sight and True Sight have a range to them so if the baddies are out of range, it doesn't help. Gargoyles Freeze ability is an extraordinary ability so I would say Arcane Sight and True Sight don't help. You got to make the spot check to notice them. Second Question: Races don't magicall emit magical auras. If they have spells in effect or magical items, those might emit magical auras. |
| Prelate11-15-07, 04:17 PM | arcane sight wouldn't do much in this. true sight, however.. doesn't it have something about showing things in their natural form, or showing when they are not in their natural form? it's been years since I had to use true sight, but I was thinking it had some ability to discern creatures like that. |
| Vacerious11-15-07, 04:29 PM | I don't think neither Arcane Sight or True Sight would help. The ability is Extraordinary, like wonlee said, but also because the gargoyle doesn't really change forms. It just stands really, really still. So no, Arcane Sight or True Sight probably wouldn't help out in that situation. Now, if the gargoyle has any spell/spell-like effect on him, or if it's someone polymorphed as a gargoyle, then Arcane Sight and/or True Sight would help. Also, magic items glow on Arcane Sight, too. |
