In the Neverwinter Nights PC game, there's a mod by the PRC group that gives an Archer character class. I don't seem to find this on the consolidated lists on on any of my books. Does this class "officially" exsist?

If not, what class(es) would best portray an archer, aside from variants of fighter, ranger, or rogue?

Thanks!

It doesn't exist.

Ranger is probably the best fit with the classes as they exist; A fighter might more interesting with all of the feats he has (they are a versatile class)

Scout is the best new PC class for ranged attack; The Order of the Bow Initiate in the same book (compete Adventurer) is my choice for top Archer PrC.

There is a PRC in one of the oriental themed books called 'Wasp Bounty Hunter'. A perspective player once showed it to me, and I thought if it where flavor-modified it was an EXCELENT archer PrC.

There arn't any archer base classes, but there are many prestiege classes that fit it.

(These arn't in any specific order).

Cragtop Archer
Deepwood Sniper (Is 3.0, but has been updated on the classes thread)
Order of the Bow Initiate (I think that is the right one)
Arcane Archer
Soulbow (It's the ranged Psionic PRC for the Soulknife)

Base classes that work well for archer-
Cleric (I'm not kidding :P)
Fighter
Psionic Warrior
Barbarian (Rage+Composite bow hits hard with StR damage at range)
Ranger (A pre-build fighter pretty much though...)
