| Neo_Leviathan10-06-05, 12:34 PM | Hey, currently in my campaign the PCs (2 lvl 6, 4 lvl 7) are cleaning out a nest of Kython (BoVD). I'm just wondering if the Kython (which are 3.0) are under-CRed for 3.5 (as in too tough for their CR). The elemental resistances and immunities really limit the options of the mages, their AC is decent, as is their HP and AB. Also the poison is rather nasty too. Has anyone else found any problems with Kython in 3.5, or am I overreacting? (I'm a first time GM so that is quite possible :) ) |

Which isn't to say I haven't had bad experiences with kythons. Namely, my 2-weapon-fighting Warforged and a coupla other players fought a Kython that had a CR 5-7 levels higher than the party level. No one could hit it on lower than a 16, and I had to roll a 20 to hit. The creature just spontaneously appeared on a flat plain with no other means of conquering it (cut the rope that holds the boulder swinging precariously overhead, etc.) Why? We had been asking for a worthy challenge (this was a very-low-magic evil campaign where all we fought was the occasional peasant...yawn) |

The "reduce its blindsight to get these" abilities make it very dangerous to a group who isn't prepared to fight something like that. If I were to send my players up aganst something like that, I'd make sure they have all of their hp and spells for the day before doing so. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
