invisble1 08-27-06, 09:09 PM	So my characters will be ending up in an arena environment; as "punishment" for crimes against the kingdom. My question is, i was originally after the group vs a group of unnamed meatbag style npcs, recently i have been toying with the idea of them doing a "last man standing" kind of thing [to unconciousness of course] kinda thinking to test thier drive and characters, if they make alliances and such. what are you thoughts.
Regwon 08-27-06, 09:45 PM	sounds good. ive always been a fan of arena combat. i like the idea and its nice and simple. a few things to think about. are tere any restrictons on what can be done in this arena. if your PCs are up to mid-level spell casters are probably going to some out on top. are there going to be other combatants. is it possible that the PCs could just escape? what happens if they do? is there a crowd? can they effect the combatants and vice-versa. i ran an arena combat once where if a combatant got too clase to the edge the crowd would plet them with rock, rotten fruit, a pig or whatever. that was lots of fun.
enlightened 08-27-06, 10:45 PM	If the country intends for it to be a death sentence (as opposed to a test) they will probably chain their feet limiting move actions to 10 feet or so and chain the characters together in pairs forcing the fast ones to delay until the slower one's initative count in order to move together. However, the chain between them could be use as an impromtu weapon (-4 to hit) for choking or tripping, etc. Watch the movie Gladiator again. :)
invisble1 08-28-06, 02:44 PM	yeah - were going to RP the holding cells at night and such, so they MAY escape, provided they can do it. they could also make a run for it in the arena, except that they should be busy trying to live. they are level 4s.
invisble1 09-05-06, 10:02 PM	so i think it's going to be a group of captured soldiers that fight our group here. anyone have stats on a mid sized platoon? i need the players to be out numbered 3 to 1.
