for does fighters out thare who really hate what armor penelty did:

aprentice, journey's man, exper and master given to all classes

im still working on it but the main idea is:
aprentice at level 5.
journey at level 10.
exper at level 15.
master at level 20.

every one of those reduce the panelty of cheecks, speed and DEX.

for example a heavy armor master dont have any armor penelty when waring heavy armor.

firts of all i thought of those as feats but then i said "nha they will say it's not balanced"

so i made it a house rule.

like in Oblivion...

if you want it to be balaced at all though (which you do), then I would make them feats.

As a matter of fact, I would prefer the penalties to stay as they are. There are ways to lower them (mithral comes to mind) and classes that have these things as class features (the knight, specifically). Finally, it simply is a bit difficult to swim in full plate. If you want to overcome that, raise your swim-ranks.

yeah, just like in oblivion but with a few minor changes.

Aren't there some feats for this already? Something like Heavy Armor Optimization from Races of Stone. i don't know if there is medium or light armor optimization.

feats are feats and natural ability is a natural ability

lets say someone walks with a big rock on his back for 5 years.
step by step he'll get used to that and will walk free just like thare is nothing on his back, and after he will release the stone from the back he probaly will be speedy gonzales 2-lol:D

Yep. And what you just described is also know as overcoming challenges, getting XP, leveling up and thus getting feats. What's so mysterious about it?

Just adding that without cost (either in feats, XP or gold or whatever) will drastically change the importance of the dexterity score and make it possible for a character to get a very high armor class at varying levels.
Armor that grants a high AC bonus weighs this by having a lower max dex.
But a full plate with a max dex of say, +6 becomes a lot more valuable, especially if its armor check penalty drops to +1 or +2 or even nicer if its armor penalty is removed because of say mithral! Can you say "Rogue sneaking into the castle in full plate without being seen or heard"?

Bad idea. Make it a feat and put it on the fighter feats list. Problem solved. Just handing it out for free is too much.

you did'nt understand me

fighters can master every armor.
rogues can master only light armor.
every class can master only the armor his class can start with.

So said rogue takes 1 dip in fighter.

And therein lies the intrinsic problem with tossing out silly house rules like this without considering the ramifications. Every "fix" just creates more holes to fill. Whatever you come up with will likely created more issues that need resolving and on and on and on.

Eventually you may reach a point where all the holes are filled and you'll feel pretty chuffed about the whole thing, but then you need to look back an figure out if it was really worth all the effort. I'll save you the trouble: it isn't.

If I were a player in this game I'd be pretty POed that you're giving fighters such a boost for free and none of the other classes. WHat are you going to do for them? What are the bards, rangers, rogues, paladin, wizards, et al getting as a major freebie boost?

From previous posts, coldfire, you are relatively new to the game.

I would suggest you play for a while with the rules as written. Try different levels of power, different classes, different types of adventure (social, fighting, infiltration) for a while.

This will help you understand the current balance of the system, the interdependencies and the far reaching ramifications of changes to the system. Then if you want to make house rules, you will have a better understanding of what changes you can make that will keep the game balanced and fun.
