11-30-06, 12:17 AM I am slightly confused about Touch and Flat footed AC.

If i usderstand correctly, Flat Footed is when the monster is suprised, so for all attacks before his turn, he has that AC. Is that right?

What is touch AC?

Touch AC is used when the attack only cares if it makes physical contact, and it doesn't matter if it penetrates the armor.

Examples: A scorching ray of flame (even if it hits your helmet, you still cook)

A Grapple attempt (even if he grabs the edge of your shield, he can still try to throw you down)

Usually the description of the attack type will specifically indicate if it is a "Touch" or "Ranged Touch" attack, in which case it only has to hit the Touch AC, instead of the full AC.
