| Venom of the Yuan Ti05-13-05, 01:48 PM | Ok the artefact is called the heart of Tzeng, a titan who gave himself a body of iron and tried to kill Elcilion (NG God of smiths and armour), he was destoyed in "The battle of iron" by Elcilion's Golem servants, but his heart could nopt be destroyed. The heart appears to be an apple sized lump of pig iron, but it cannot be harmed or melted. When placed inside magicla armour it can come to life. A minimum of a sute of armour is required, and it must have legs and arms, the sute becomes an aniamted object with int wis and cha of 16, gaining the armour enchantment boinus as a deflection modifier and full benefit of any armour abilites. If it is incorporated with other items then it may use them fully, and is considered proficeint with them. It may use as many items a human could noramlly use, as well as up to 2 wands to gain theri spells as 3/day spell like abilites and 1 staff, to gain all of its spells as 2/day spell like abilites. Once activated only the destruction of the armour or the removal of the heart can stop it, but cannot incorporate new items once activated. It amy only be destroyed by placing it inside Melikor, the intleigent Iron collousu who defeated Tzeng. |
| Astinex05-13-05, 04:04 PM | The artifact you’re describing is intriguing. But, what advice were you seeking? Or are you just looking for general feedback? |
| Venom of the Yuan Ti05-14-05, 05:42 AM | General feedback, also is it going to be powerfull or inheratly weak. Could you immagne it being used? |
| Yruc05-14-05, 06:36 AM | sounds like once activated, it would seek out some followers (surely something that can challenge a god can find someone to worship it) and then have them built it a new, bigger and better "suit of armor" up until it's in something comparable to its old body. Caught early, shouldn't be to much of a problem for your PCs.. but if not caught till late in the "aquiring" a new suit of armor = bad. Keep track of how long it would take to create new sets and gather more followers. Maybe have rumors start to surface of an automated suit wondering the country side, or a group of people buying tons and tons and tons of iron, paying way to much money for just a mondane iron sword. etc. |
| Aeromus05-14-05, 12:36 PM | Add the following: Can animate and control other suits of armor within 300 feet. Telikenines (holy hell I can't spell that at all) any weapon of a size the current inhabited suit of armor could weild. |
| Astinex05-14-05, 12:48 PM | For general feedback I was going to mention something along the lines of what Yruc said. I'm actually more intrigued by your artifact the more I think about it. At first glance it appears a little weak for an artifact. But with thought it could be very powerful in the wrong hands. I would apply a "charm/calling" effect to it. Basically any sentient creature in a radius equal to 10 x the size of the armor the "heart is in" must make an DC10 intelligence check, base radius 100 feet. Allow anyone making the check automatically able to "take 10". This ensures most PC's will not be affected by the artifacts charm effect. But, creatures with a low intelligence, goblins for example will eventually succumb to the artifact. The charm effect simply gives the charmed being vision and thoughts of power. Coupled with an animated suit of armor as a servant. These beings begin to work with the artifact to place it in armor. Then to begin building the Colossal sized suit of armor it truly wants to be housed in. As another option you could give the artifact scalable powers. The larger the suit of armor, or even the type of metal used may give the artifact additional or increased powers. Anyway I've taken up enough space. Hope that helps. |
| Venom of the Yuan Ti05-14-05, 04:03 PM | One weakness I noted was the fact that, even in collossal armour, it would have realativley few hit points and no way to heal also I like the scalable powers idea so how about this. Bonus power for size Small: Can animate weapons it could wield as though they had the dancing enchantment. Medium:Can animate suites of armour of any size within 300ft, siutes remain under its controle as long as they are within 300ft and then for 2d4 rounds after. Armour being worn is entitled to a will save, or its wearers save, whichever is better. Large:Can heal by devouring metal, 10hp per 500gp of metal consumed (also makes the thing easyer to track and trap, as it needs much metal) Huge:Magic items that touch it (other than its body parts) must make a DC 20+10 per size catogory over Huge will save or be dispelled as per dispell magic, Tzeng gains DR 1/- (cumelative) for 1 hour afterwards. Gargantuan:SR 25 (35 if collossal), any spell that fails to get over this instead heals levelxd6 damadge. Collossal: Quickened Antimagic field centered on self at will. |
| Astinex05-14-05, 04:19 PM | I like the worn armor thing. That could give the PC's one heck of a surprise if they have to make STR checks vs. their own armor to get it to do what they want it to do. The antimagic field may be a bit much though. Instead I'd add an energy resistance or immunity or two. Then give it a quickened fireball or blade barrier centered on itself. Of course it will be immune to these effects at colossal. I'd also give it the ability to fly as spell x2/day and greater teleport x2/day somewhere in there. Now it has the ability to escape. Never know when those PC's will surprise you with something too soon. You may want to have some stats for tiny armor even, depending on the size of the heart itself. Never know, may come in the game. |
