| natural_selection08-25-06, 09:01 AM | I have granted my druid 4/ wizard 3 PC an Asperi as animal companion. This one is a large magical beast and it can fly realy good as far as I can tell. It might be possible that this will unbalance the game or overpower the charcter a bit. Hence I am looking for ways to teach the PC to use his companion resprectfully and not trying to overabuse it. So my question is, how could I handle the PC flying on his asperi during combat? - Is there a spell with which I can diminish the asperi? - Is threre a spell to hinder flying? - Any ideas are welcome. Thanks. |

Fly Like a Rock Transmutation Level: Sor/Wiz 3 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 action Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Target: One being or object Duration: One round/level Saving Throw: Will negates Spell Resistance: Yes This spell was heavily used by Azela during her struggles against the Wraithkillers, and again by Korshek of the Black Marshes during that region’s Beholder Wars. Popular with adventurers and military forces, this spell is readily available from nearly any mage guild. When casting this spell, the mage makes a fist and slams it into an open hand, then jerks the hand in a downward motion while laughing. The target of the spell hears his laughter as it immediately loses the capacity to fly. This includes, but is not limited to: flying creatures (creatures like beholders that use levitation are not affected, however, nor are will-owisps, air elementals, and other creatures that fly innately); magic items like carpets of flying and wings of flying; and beings under the effect of a fly spell. In all cases except for the last, the creature or object affected gains a Will save to avoid the effect; if it fails, it loses the ability to fly, which often results in a long fall. In the last case, the caster must make a caster level check (1d20+ caster level) against the fly spell; if the check succeeds, the fly spell is temporarily suspended, and the victim falls like a rock. Material Component: A clipped wing from a bird. |
