Assigning CR for custom monsters. [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-07-04, 01:23 AM Is there a set of rules for doing so. I have 10 3rd edition hardbound books and I can't readily find any such information. Is there anything in any of the books or what do you guys do? Right now I try to find something I think is an equal challange or close to and assign a CR close to that. But it gets harder for more custom creations.

07-07-04, 11:19 PM Chapter 5 of the 3.5 MM explains how to make a monster. I am not sure if you have seen that, but it appears to be what you need.

07-07-04, 11:49 PM There's no easy way to calculate CR. If you the your monsters on the Monster LAir forum, the kind folks there will be more than happy to tell you the appropriate CR.
