| Puskara09-30-04, 07:23 AM | Greetings: I am about to start a new campaign and I have a character with an interesting idea. He is going to play a Forest Gnome who has a particular interest in the elements and in particular Air. He would like to take improved farmilliar and have some sort of air elemental. The campaign takes place in Greyhawk and primarily the Amedio Jungle. They are there as part of an expedition. I plan on using lots of South American and Central American influences. Dragon 317 has a great article on Central American creatures of myth. Coudl anyone give me thier opinion on the caster level that would be required to have a Thunder (Dragon 317, pg. 65) as a farmilliar? Perhaps suggestion on how to tone them down in order to lower the required caster level? Any suggestions are appreciated, including any alternate air-based familliar ideas. Puskara |

First, perhaps it could be only summonable for varying periods of time? At first level, you could summon it once for five minutes every day. At second, maybe twice a day, or once for longer, etc. Alternately, you could have the Thunder be bound as a familiar while in an early stage of growth, and it would grow into its powers as the character advanced? |

I would give all the stats on a Thunder but them WotC would send thier assasin-lawers after me. If anyone collects Dragon I did include the issue and page number. I think I will carefully review the abilities of the Thunder and will tyr to break the powers out over the various levels. Puskara |
