| tharivol26607-18-06, 04:52 PM | okay so tomorrow im going to send the PCs to the astral plane and their guide is going to "forget" to warn them about the gravity there. when they get there they will fall because their default gravity is down and i was wondering if they set the gravity point inside of themselves so they just float wherever would it slow them down to a stop, have them come to a screeching halt, or not slow them down at all. and by inside themselves i mean "the center of gravity is my stomache" |
| Crust07-18-06, 07:12 PM | I might suggest that each PC immediately begins moving in a random direction at a speed their intelligence score x10 (if that's even correct... I don't have the material with me). Give them an int check (or bard knowledge or knowledge planes) DC 15 every round to arrest their movement and take control. There might be additional rules in the DMG or a Manual of the Planes. |

With standard physics rulse, the lower part of their body would try to accelerate upwards while the upper part of their body would accelerate downwards. When the pcs indeed have chosen the exact centre of their body, the net acceleration would be zero - meaning that they continue to move into the same direction as before. Moving would probably work by setting gravity in front of yourself as long as you want to accelerate and behind yourself when you wish to decelerate... |
| tharivol26607-18-06, 07:35 PM | thats what i thought cifer but i just wanted a second opinion to give myself leverage incase any of them argue with me. and having them go in a random direction wouldn't work because i want their guide to "fall" down next to them and inform them all at once how the gravity works. |
