Not sure if this belongs here or over on the Spells and magic but..........

In the spell "Astral Projection" there is a reference to the "silvery cord" that an astral traveller posesses, and to see the DMG for more about it. Looking at my DMG I can find no mention of the Silvery cord at all. Any information on the cord (with references if possible) would be greatly appreciated.

Briefly mentioned in Monster Manual, in the gith silver sword section. Manual of the Planes and I think in the PhB under the astral projection spell.

The jist is that this silver cord connects your physical body to your astral body, if it gets severed you have no way back and are lost in the astral plane (good source for adventur). There are very few things that activly try and sever the silver cord, Gith and Astral Dreadnaughts being the only 2 that spring to mind right away.

You'll find a lot more info if you post in the planescape forum, things like this were covered in greater detail in the 2e Planescape Setting (best setting IMO) and those are the people in the know.

well there is a misconception i just cleared up for myself while i was reading the OP. actually changing planes doesnt give you a silvery cord because your physical body is still with it.

refer to the spell astral progection on pg 201 of phb column 2 paragraph 2. but dont bother going to the dmg for more info cuz i dont think its there and the cord itself has the owner's ac, hardness 10 and 20 hp as stated by the githyanki stats page 128 of MMcolumn one under githyanki silver swords paragrapgh 2.

Yeah, I just read the MM entry and answered my own question. Sorry to bother.

Just another example of why "better Proof reading" is needed on the part of WOTC editing department.
