Return to life is a regular thing for adventurers ?

First time a player died when I DM, the other players decided to buy him a scroll of ressurection, I even made the description of his after life travel ... but this is getting annoying for me and the other players ... the same guy died 5 times in 3 months ( in the adventure world time) ... he is careless with dangerous situation ... and all he does is buy a scroll and came back, they even tried to steal his possessions after he died, but the good players covered him ...
I think he has a problem letting his character go but .... I don´t know a good reason to keep him from caming back ... something like madness after seeing something strange in afterlife ....

any sugestion ... has anyone faced this situation ... or should I just let him keep on doing it
How normal is come back to life ? I looks like they are just buying cure potions ...

11-28-03, 11:33 AM Does he lose one point of Constitution each time he is resurected?

Next time he dies, you could have the group encounter an elder druid who offer to reincarne him. And pray that he will come back as a bear or a kobold, he will like his character a bit less...

11-28-03, 11:37 AM You don't say what level this guy is but 5 Ressurections is going to eat into the PC's funds at a horrific rate. And finding scrolls of 7th level spells should require some significant travel unless the party is based in a city.

Assuming that they don't get a failure when using the scroll (which I assume they must have to overcome otherwise the party would be casting the spell themselves) 5 scrolls of resurrection would come to 61,375gp assuming minimum caster level. And losing 5 levels should be really hitting this guy where it hurts.

Remember that even Resurrection isn't a cure-all, the relevant quote is "So long as some small portion of the creature’s body still exists" so any death where the body is not recoverable will preclude Resurrection.

You are probably making it too easy for them to locate people willing to sell the scrolls - IMC no-one expects to be able to easily source anything that needs more than a 7th level caster because such NPC's get progressively rarer and those that exist tend to be occupied with their own business so either can't be easily tracked down (as they don't sit at home a lot) or are very busy people (because they are a powerful and influential cleric). So its entirely realistic that the party are not going to be able to walk into a temple and just buy such a scroll.
