| krichaiushii04-20-07, 11:21 AM | I have an idea for an interesting encounter (whether its original or just something I once saw, I know not). Anyhow, the end result is a fight in chest-deep (on a human) water, against a martial BBEG who wears a ring of water walking and is specialized in the whip; I'm thinking disarmed PCs may lose gear and small PCs may drown. Alternatively, instead of the whip, its just a specialized bastard sword wielder standing on the water (gaining high ground bonus?). Regardless, I need to mechanically cook this guy up; feats, items, primary stats, class and level. Ideally using only SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/) materials. As this is only challenging if the PCs can't fly or easily reach the BBEG, he needs to be of a low enough power that not all PCs have access to flight, either through items or spells. If it makes planning easier, I'm seeing this as a pirate/slaver type with enough minions to occupy the ranged fighters and perhaps eat up the higher level spells from the casters. There may even be a backup arcanist available to dispel magic on flyers and perhaps throw up a wind wall for archers. Perhaps a fighting retreat to the slaver's ship; the caster waits on board with a handful of crew (ranged weapons or just getting ready to make way), while the PCs assault the slaver's stockade to free some slaves and kill some bad guys. I have no particular PC classes or levels in mind for this encounter. Thanks for reading, posting any suggestions, etc. |
