im looking for more information on barbarians. i want to expand my book of campaigns/quests. the phb says barbarians come from the northern frozen wastes and the deep south jungles. usually found as an adventurer or a survivor of a lost tribe. anyone know what book i should be looking at, to get more info on these tribes?

There isn't really any published material that talks about the barbarian tribes of greyhawk. It's all dependant on the campaign setting. If you look in the campaign setting books you can probably find some information, but there isn't much that goes into the details of individual tribes. It's pretty much just left up to the DM or player to make it up.

What kind of setting do you need this for? What kind of barbarians are you thinking of?

The only published material that comes to mind is some of the 2nd Ed stuff. I also don't know if you've looked but there are two old Forgotten Realms setting books available online on this website, one of which is for the FR version of the Mongol Hordes, the other of which is meant for the north western part of Faerun, featuring a couple of different examples of barbarian cultures. Check out the downloads section for out of print materials.

The Uthgardt and Tuigan barbarians in Forgotten Realms are good examples. You should be able to make up a barbarian tribe anywhere.
