How much do each of these storage containters hold? I have an adventure involving a overturned caravan and I need to know how much of what I can hand out.

How much does a backpack hold? Whatever the DM decides is realistically feasible. With that simple stroke of logic, D&D 3E did away with concrete stowage capacities. But when you need to know how much gold you can haul away from the dragon's hoard, sometimes you want a little more precision. Here, then, are the 2E stowage rules, brought back from the dead.

Backpack Maximum Stowage Weight: 50 lb. Tare (weight when empty): 2 lb. Volume: 3'-2'-1'

Basket Maximum Stowage Weight: 20 lb. Tare (weight when empty): 1 lb. Volume: 2'-2'-2'

Chest Maximum Stowage Weight: 100 lb. Tare (weight when empty): 25 lb. Volume: 3'-2'-2'

Pouch, belt Maximum Stowage Weight: 8 lb. Tare (weight when empty): 0.5 lb. Volume: 6"-8"-2"

Sack Maximum Stowage Weight: 30 lb. Tare (weight when empty): 0.5 lb. Volume: 2'-2'-1'

Saddlebags Maximum Stowage Weight: 30 lb. Tare (weight when empty): 8 lb. Volume: 18'-1'-6"
