Barrow down adventure [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-14-05, 05:53 PM I plan to have an adventure in a Tokienish barrow downs world. This is meant to be a more laid back adventure after my PC's have completed a more intense campain. There will be some elements of humor and ghost story. Complete with, children who dare each other to get as close as they can to the river seperating the safe sections of the grave yard from the dangerous ones, an old woman who warns that if my PC's are fool hardy enough to wander into the Downs that they should stay on the path if they don't want to die. And a random guy who pops out and tells the whole history of the downs

Okay Picture this coming from the guy in south park talking about the K13 or the trail through the woods butters has to go through.

The Barrow downs. Nope you don't wanna go down that road. That road has a history. Hundreds of andventurers have gone down that road never to return and some say they've been turned into ghouls and wights. You see it was a royal grave yard until it was taken over by an arch litch cleric of Nerul who used to eat the flesh of children with no eyes.

The river is cursed along with the bridge, they say its cause its made from the bones of a hag who used to kill children and keep their mutalated body's in her cellar.
Yah lotta history down that road.

Anything I might want to add?

06-14-05, 06:19 PM Right. But these are PCs... sometimes you have to pretend they're stupid. Sometimes you have to exploit their imagination. I wasn't implying you hadn't thought of the treasure... I just think it's worth explicitly mentioning it to the PCs a few times.

After all, it's not as if you'll be spoiling a surprise - "king's tombs are full of treasure. Everyone knows that." ;)

"Well if you do go in there don't leave the path, not for anything, you may see treasure's about the tombs but if you follow them the mists will get you and no one will ever hear from you again."
