dungeonmasterblog 02-19-06, 11:23 AM	I'm an experienced DM with a ton of resource material, both 3.5E and back. Is there any reason why I'd want to pick up the basic set? StevenO 02-19-06, 08:21 PM	If you can get the Basic Game at any discount the Black Dragon is generally considered worth the price of the whole thing on the secondary market. If you use minis and don't have the heroes they are ok and you get to add several kobolds and the elusive Orc Warriors to your collection as well. The map tiles are nice for small space encounters and fairly durable. As an experienced DM the books are mostly worthless unless you want a guide to easy a real newbie into the game.
WhiteRaven810 02-19-06, 08:38 PM	The map tiles make for useful and quick dungeons. I end up using them mostly as secret rooms for Elves and Rogues to find. The miniatures are pretty great also. The hero's RP stats make for easy encounters. I used them as a (friendly) rival team for a gladitor tournament. They TPK'ed my party. The Orc's and Kobolds aren't as aesthic, however like the minions within the paper and pencil RP, they have their purpose. The Black Dragon is kick ass.
ConclaveKing 02-19-06, 09:16 PM	I started with it. I'm still using it because I'm 14 and can't afford the core books. It is too basic, really. It says nothing about the item's wieght or even grapple.
