I have made up a new villain for my games, one that differs from my other villains due to the fact that he is a cleric. I don't have a solid idea of what Deity or domains he should have (or even if he should be evil) The Cleric's Goal is to bring forth a calamity that with destroy the power of arcane spell casters.

I also have a sort of Feedback spell that he uses on arcane casters that does more damage based on spells per day/spells use this day the idea is that he will amplify that so it works on a global scale.

Any Ideas for my mage hater would be appreciated.

Well, i would recomend no diety (they dont have to have one) and the pact and time domains.

What books are Pact and Time In?

Not having a deity would make sence as he belives his actions of for the benifit of all mankind, however the benifit of religion are belivers who will help you. I may have to homebrew a deity, but I'd rather not.

Pact and Time are in Spell Compendium, and also tyranny would be good.

He could worship the god of fire (whoever that is), but he twisted it (since fire is destructive). Then the fire, destruction and maybe darkness domain. Any really...

Fire might work but in core I dont think there is one.

THe other thing that puzzles me is what sort of evil he might be, if any.

If he's a melee man with high strength, than give him Strength domain. That means for one round per day he can make someone cry.

Also luck domain to prevent one bad die roll...

Think more along the lines of what special ability makes him better...

Or just give him the magic domain for looks of confusion.

I'd say Protection domain is very good. It's often involved with stopping magic.

St. Cuthbert has destruction, law, protection, and strength. He's Lawful Neutral, and his clerics can be LG or LN.

Make it so your cleric is incensed by the chaos introduced into the world, and wants retribution against the casters of the magic he views as chaotic.

His portfolio includes retribution and zeal.

Or you could go looking outside the D&D pantheon, perhaps to Forgotten realms. What setting are you using? Homebrew?

It is infact a homebrew setting

I have thought about making him a cleric of saint cuthbert, however he may be evil. Not quite sure though. St. Cuthbert would be a good choise.

I agree, protection is a good choice.

EDIT: I also believe that Cuthbert clerics can be LE

Cuthbert can't have LE clerics as they may break rules and whatnot

how about they wield a hammer and sickle? now all you need to do is find a deity with his favored weapon be a hammer (and sickle if possible)

Why a hammer and sickle? I don't see any communism present in the guy?

How 'bout you have a person who worships shar who would destroy normal weave users. I don't know her domains off the bat

homebrew setting? how about he worsheps an ancient homebrew diety? devoted to whatever his goals happen to be.

Might keep some accidental metagaming when the PCs first hear about it.
